About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the strategy, planning, creation, production, and delivery of video and multimedia content
  • Advance marketing, recruitment, communications, and event initiatives through video production
  • Supervise video staff members
  • Lead end-to-end video production from intake and prioritization through concept development, scripting, storyboarding, production planning, filming, directing, post-production, quality control, publishing coordination, and final delivery
  • Ensure video content discoverability and performance across Google Search, YouTube, social platforms, and AI-driven search and answer experiences
  • Apply current video SEO and platform best practices
  • Manage multiple concurrent productions and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, freelancers, vendors, agencies, and production partners
  • Develop scripts, storyboards, interview guides, shot lists, and other pre-production materials
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, faculty, staff, students, creative colleagues, and external production partners
  • Use audience and performance data to inform production and distribution decisions
  • Maintain accessibility and NYU brand standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Film and Television, Video or Media Production, Communications, Digital Media, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or a related creative discipline
  • Coursework or professional experience demonstrating advanced knowledge of video production, post-production, visual storytelling, and digital media
  • 5+ years professional experience in video production, post-production, multimedia storytelling, or related creative production
  • Demonstrated experience leading video projects from concept through final delivery and formally leading a video/creative team
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent productions and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, freelancers, vendors, agencies, or other production partners
  • Strong creative, editorial, and technical judgment across end-to-end video production
  • People-management and team-leadership skills
  • Project and production management skills
  • Ability to develop scripts, storyboards, interview guides, shot lists, and other pre-production materials
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in professional video software programs and working knowledge of digital image editing and vector graphics software
  • Professional camera operation, lighting, audio capture, production equipment, media management, and studio/on-location production workflows
  • Working knowledge of video SEO, AEO, and GEO concepts
  • Knowledge of video publishing and optimization practices, including titles, descriptions, captions/transcripts, chapters, thumbnails, metadata, and keyword alignment
  • Ability to use YouTube Analytics, Search Console, social platforms, or comparable tools
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility practices for video and multimedia content
  • Familiarity with digital asset management, metadata, archival practices, file organization, and scalable creative workflows
  • Working knowledge of production permissions and documentation, including releases, licensed assets, music usage, and copyright considerations
