About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build relationships with key district-level decision makers and drive new business and expansion
  • Sell Newsela’s assessment, data warehousing, and MTSS products
  • Connect with diverse K-12 stakeholders while keeping student success central to conversations
  • Own the assigned territory and manage the full sales lifecycle
  • Prospect for net-new district business from pipeline generation through final close
  • Manage pipeline creation, pipeline management, forecasting, and lead generation campaigns
  • Collaborate with internal departments and a regional sales team
  • Develop strategic territory plans using funding, state initiatives, demographics, and K-12 landscape insights
  • Achieve individual revenue targets
  • Represent the company in the market and independently manage priorities
  • Evaluate customer needs, structure tailored solutions, negotiate within established guidelines, and influence revenue outcomes
  • Meet regularly with executive leadership to discuss deal strategies, industry trends, and district initiatives
  • Leverage support from the dedicated business team and Learning & Enablement team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of experience as an Account Executive required
  • Demonstrated success hitting or exceeding large sales quotas
  • Experience selling products to school districts in the K-12 EdTech space required
  • Experience selling curriculum, assessment, data warehouse, and/or MTSS products in the K-12 EdTech market required
  • Extensive networking, prospecting, and pipeline generation experience
  • Proven success forecasting business in the EdTech industry
  • Well-versed in MEDDPICC sales methodology
  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic territory manager
  • Executive presence to lead consultative district conversations and navigate multiple stakeholders
  • Experience using AI tools to drive efficiency and productivity
  • Willingness and ability to build a book of business from scratch
  • Ability to meet established sales goals in an agile environment
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%, likely a few times per quarter, based on business and customer needs
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Successful completion of a background check required
