About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the primary face of Manatee Lagoon by greeting and educating guests through scheduled and impromptu tours
Lead diverse programming, including field trips, summer camps, toddler story time, lectures, and school-group programs
Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating environmental educational programs and community events
Collaborate with the team to develop and manage special projects enhancing visitor experiences
Create educational materials, including lessons, flyers, and digital content
Assist with crowd control and ensure safety guidelines are followed
Assist with opening and closing the center
Track sign-ups and keep records for additional add-ons for metric purposes
Take inventory and document center activity, visitor interactions, and noteworthy observations
Respond to inquiries with pre-approved responses
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Grad / GED
1+ years of experience
Maintains active enrollment in a Bachelor, Master or PH.D of Science degree program
Cumulative GPA of 3.0
Comfortable interacting with the public
Ability to teach or present educational content in-person and virtually
Strong communication skills
Flexible, proactive, enthusiastic and friendly
Available a minimum of one weekday and one weekend day per week; 3+ days a week preferred
Neat and professional appearance must be maintained
