About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support NextEra Energy’s Wind Operations in the North Hub
- Deploy safety resources and champion the safety culture across the hub’s wind fleet
- Drive regulatory compliance and provide regulatory interpretation of OSHA, state, and provincial regulations
- Conduct field and site assessments, job safety analyses, injury analyses, and incident investigations
- Improve job packages, safety plans, safety management systems, processes, and procedures
- Support tactical teams and provide technical guidance on safety procedures and processes
- Deliver safety coaching, training, presentations, and leadership onsite and virtually
- Partner with PGD Safety, operational teams, external regulatory agencies, and site teams
- Identify strategic initiatives, field hazards, risks, and corrective actions
- Conduct root cause analyses and recommend actionable improvements
- Develop and implement best practices and proactive injury- and illness-prevention initiatives
- Mentor colleagues through safety coaching and training
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field plus 4+ years in the energy/utility sector, OR a minimum of 8 years of experience
- Preferably a minimum of 5 years of safety experience plus 3 years of other applicable experience
- Experience in electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, or comparable industrial environments
- Understanding of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910.269, 1926), ANSI, NFPA, and NESC standards
- Leadership in safety program development, training delivery, and investigations
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Technical writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other digital platforms
- Ability to identify field hazards and provide practical mitigation strategies
- Up to 75% travel to PGD Wind sites across the U.S. and Canada
- Master’s degree, CSP and/or CIH certifications highly valued
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor’s or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience
- Supervisor/Management Experience: 0+ years
