About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor and control transmission, substation, and high-voltage equipment in the Renewable Operations Control Center
  • Dispatch resources to maintain transmission system reliability parameters
  • Monitor and interpret alarms, equipment status, and system conditions
  • Write switching orders and clearance documentation
  • Evaluate and process equipment clearance requests and safely release clearances
  • Assess real-time conditions and identify operating risks
  • Support restoration after system disturbances and equipment outages
  • Coordinate generation, transmission, and substation outages
  • Coordinate communications with Reliability Coordinators and other operating entities
  • Maintain operating logs and documentation
  • Ensure renewable generation assets meet safety and compliance requirements
  • Maximize availability, reliability, and revenue through alarm monitoring and response
  • Coordinate market participation with schedulers, marketers, transmission operators, and balancing authorities
  • Manage initial emergency response for safety, cyber, and environmental events
  • Plan outages and execute high-voltage switching orders
  • Mentor new hires and participate in qualification boards
  • Support development and maintenance of alarm and response strategy
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Associate’s or Equivalent Experience
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s - Engineering
  • Ability to monitor and control transmission, substation, and high-voltage facilities
  • Knowledge and compliance with NERC, regional reliability, company operating, FERC, ISO/RTO, and contractual requirements
  • Ability to coordinate with Generator Operators, field personnel, utilities, Reliability Coordinators, schedulers, marketers, transmission operators, and balancing authorities
  • Ability to respond to and troubleshoot abnormal events, substation protection and operation issues, outages, and equipment faults
  • Ability to write switching orders and clearance-related documentation
  • Ability to attend NERC-approved training and continuing education
  • Ability to mentor new hires and participate in qualification boards
