About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install BESS components such as batteries, inverters, control systems, and associated electrical equipment
  • Commission and configure BESS systems according to manufacturer specifications and customer expectations
  • Collaborate with project engineers to integrate BESS into EMS
  • Conduct routine maintenance to optimize performance and ensure battery storage system safety
  • Identify and resolve faults and inefficiencies in BESS equipment
  • Test electrical and electronic components using appropriate, company-approved tools
  • Maintain and troubleshoot inverters and medium-voltage transformers
  • Observe BESS systems through SCADA
  • Evaluate system performance and make recommendations to optimize efficiency
  • Adhere to Prevalon safety procedures and local and industry standards and regulations
  • Provide technical support and training to customers, fellow technicians, and project team members
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Report to the Service Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and battery storage systems
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems and associated energy management software platforms
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and NFPA guidelines
  • Associate degree or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Renewable Energy, or a related field
  • 1–5 years of experience working with battery storage systems or a related field
  • Experience with renewable (wind/solar/BESS) inverter maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus
  • Certification as an electrician or energy technician is a plus
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Relevant BESS technology experience with Fluence/Tesla/Powin preferred
  • Must reside in Central to Southern California
  • Must be willing to work predominantly outdoors in various work environments
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Minimum of 25% travel required
  • Must have the ability to work with potentially hazardous and high-voltage equipment
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols is required
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required
