About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate and manage accounting, payroll, and administration for the company and assigned subsidiaries, including intercompany transactions
  • Process and post customer invoices, vendor bills, receipts, and journal entries
  • Maintain accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer balances
  • Review and approve employee expense reports and process payroll-system reimbursements
  • Oversee corporate and subsidiary credit card processes
  • Oversee daily banking activity and reconciliations
  • Monitor company and subsidiary cash activity for cash-flow management
  • Lead month-end close, including prepaids, capital assets, amortization, accruals, and interest adjustments
  • Prepare monthly balance-sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP and corporate procedures
  • Resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Support year-end audit preparation and the annual business plan
  • Manage financial controls and reporting across the order cycle
  • Ensure accurate inventory transactions between inventory management and accounting systems through COGS
  • Support sales administration, supplier-portal registrations, and customer/sales-team coordination
  • Prepare corporate financial, payroll, and recurring compliance filings
  • Assist with government-program funding applications and claims, including SR&ED and IRAP
  • Manage the shared finance inbox and perform other administrative duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of previous experience in an accounting role
  • Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Post-secondary education in accounting / business program
  • Proficient in standard office software
  • Previous experience using accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel
  • Tools knowledge/experience preferred: Humi, Xero, TriNet, QuickBooks, Unleashed
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and seek guidance when needed
  • Strong organization, communication, time management, and critical-thinking skills
