About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set strategic direction, maturity goals, capability roadmaps and operational expectations for enterprise resilience
- Lead crisis and emergency management readiness, including escalation paths, decision authorities, situation reporting and communications
- Act as liaison among executive leadership, the Crisis Management Team, business continuity response teams and affected business units during incidents
- Provide leaders with timely situational awareness, business impact, recovery progress, restoration timelines and required decisions
- Lead post-incident reviews, capture lessons learned and drive corrective actions
- Lead and mature the enterprise business continuity planning program
- Lead business impact analysis and prioritize impacts on essential functions, dependencies, staffing, facilities, technology, suppliers, data and partners
- Partner with business leaders to develop documented, executable and tested continuity playbooks
- Define and track continuity metrics, exercises and remediation of identified gaps
- Coordinate disaster recovery alignment with Information Technology, Information Security, Disaster Recovery and Incident Response teams
- Align business recovery priorities with technical recovery capabilities, recovery time objectives, recovery point objectives and application dependencies
- Support disaster recovery exercises and drive remediation of gaps between continuity expectations and technology recovery capabilities
- Provide leadership oversight for the U.S. Navy-sponsored Radiation Injury Treatment Network program
- Directly manage the RITN Program Manager and oversee program activities, partners, exercises, training, assessments, communications and reporting
- Represent or ensure representation of RITN in external exercises, site evaluations, conferences, meetings and partner engagements
- Support governance of Executive Protection and Corporate Employee Safety
- Coordinate safety governance with Corporate Security, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Facilities, Information Security, Communications and executive stakeholders
- Develop and lead training, awareness and compliance activities across the five resilience domains
- Plan, facilitate and evaluate tabletop exercises, crisis simulations, playbook reviews, digital downtime exercises and scenario-based tests
- Monitor changes in processes, technology, facilities, vendors, regulations and organizational structure to keep plans and governance current
- Maintain authoritative records of plans, BIAs, risk assessments, exercise results, metrics, remediation actions, approvals and executive reporting materials
- Prepare and manage the operating budget
- Evaluate tools, templates, standards, practices, benchmarks and maturity models
- Support audits, assessments, inspections, customer inquiries, regulatory reviews and quality activities
- Lead change to improve continuity readiness, organizational resilience, decision quality, cross-functional alignment and service continuity
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, emergency management, risk management, information technology, healthcare administration, public health, public safety, homeland security or related field; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered
- 10 plus years of progressive experience in business continuity, crisis management, emergency management, disaster recovery coordination, operational resilience, risk management, incident response, healthcare emergency preparedness, employee safety governance, executive protection governance, grant-funded program oversight or related disciplines
- Experience leading business impact analysis, continuity strategy, crisis response coordination, recovery planning, tabletop exercises, operational downtime exercises, executive reporting and cross-functional governance
- Willingness to work unusual hours and remain accessible during evening, night, weekend and holiday hours during significant disruptions
- Adherence to NMDP confidentiality policies for patient, donor, workforce, partner and proprietary information
- Ability to coach, mentor and develop direct reports
- Ability to provide continuity and readiness subject matter expertise to departmental leaders
- Ability to collaborate across departments, executive stakeholders and response teams
- Ability to discern material threats, act decisively during disruption, maintain composure under pressure, clarify ownership, simplify complex information and drive timely decisions
- Ability to serve as a strategic advisor and thought leader, define measurable maturity goals, hold teams accountable and identify resilience and safety governance gaps
- 5 plus years of leadership experience preferred
- Experience in radiological incident preparedness and working with federally funded healthcare coalitions preferred
- CBCP, MBCP, MBCI, CEM, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer/Lead Auditor or similar certification preferred
