About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support RFP/RFQ Network Design responses and network optimization
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for field teams on network planning and deployment
Research and develop technical specifications
Evaluate vendor and internal options to determine the best products and facilities
Use network transition strategies to design optimal architecture for new products and platforms
Create tools and resources for sales engineers designing and optimizing network responses
Conduct economic analysis of networking models and emerging technologies
Analyze network designs and economic implications of roadmap features
Collaborate with Marketing, PLM, Sales, and Engineering teams on network solutions
Monitor industry trends and standards to maintain competitive solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics is required
5+ years of relevant industry experience
Strong preference for 3+ years of experience in 3rd party network design or optimization tools
Working knowledge of carrier-class networking architecture, including WDM, IP/MPLS/GMPLS/Ethernet technologies
Functional experience in sales engineering or product management
Proficiency in writing scripts using Excel, Matlab, Python, or similar tools
Experience with commercial planning tools such as OPNET, VPISystems, RSoft, Wandl, or Cariden is highly desirable
Strong technical skills in Optical Link Budget Engineering, Non-Linear simulation, and Layer 1 networking
Prior experience in Provisioning, Installation, and Testing of DWDM systems is an advantage
Excellent scripting, Excel, and SQL skills
Familiarity with Relational Databases and programming languages such as Perl, C++, Java, or Visual Basic
Ability to work independently and collaborate with remote teams
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
