About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and independently manage high-value, complex commercial negotiations across regions, including technology and infrastructure agreements, service agreements, and real estate and facilities transactions
- Structure and negotiate sophisticated multi-jurisdictional commercial agreements and key partnerships
- Identify and highlight risks to stakeholders for approval
- Support multiple business units on complex day-to-day legal matters and manage legal risk across commercial operations
- Provide counsel on regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Partner with regional lawyers and business partners across EMEA, US, and Asia-ex-Japan
- Lead and direct major technology transformation and digital innovation legal initiatives
- Serve as trusted advisor to senior management
- Build and maintain relationships with external counsel, regulators, and industry bodies
- Lead cross-functional initiatives with risk, compliance, and business teams
- Manage escalated legal matters and crisis situations
- Lead and mentor a team of 10 to 15 legal professionals
- Provide training and guidance on complex matters
- Drive knowledge sharing and best practices
- Contribute to talent development and succession planning initiatives
- Foster a collaborative culture within the legal function
Requirements
What you’ll need- LLB/LLM or equivalent legal qualification in relevant jurisdiction
- 15+ years of experience with significant focus on complex commercial negotiations
- Minimum 5 to 8 years in senior legal leadership roles
- Proven track record of leading complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions
- Experience in driving transformation and innovation initiatives
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Outstanding drafting and negotiating skills
- Ability to understand legal and business risk and provide business-aligned legal counsel and forward-thinking solutions
- Confidence and credibility when engaging with senior stakeholders
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to operate across diverse markets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong project management and time management skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
