About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate, review, and comment on sanitary sewer, water, and storm systems for planning applications
- Complete site inspections for site plans and development projects
- Review and comment on severance and minor variance applications
- Review lot grading plan exemptions for approvals
- Answer servicing inquiries from the public, contractors, consultants, and staff
- Perform surveying, pre-design, title searches, and easement updates as required
- Prepare and verify documents for deed registration and/or the County solicitor
- Conduct onsite inspections, document findings, and interpret data for infrastructure design and construction
- Administer and approve conditions concerning site plan controls, land severances, zoning changes, and minor variances
- Supervise and provide work direction to assigned employees and provide direction to developers and contractors
- Plan and develop policies for departmental services and evaluate service priorities
- Prepare and compile conditions and security calculations for development agreements
- Review applications for service availability and development restrictions
- Conduct background research and assist with developing and updating policies, procedures, and technical standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Three (3) year Community College diploma in Civil, Architectural, or Construction Engineering Technology studies
- Development Technologist: Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation or Certified Engineering Technician (C.Tech.) may also be considered
- Development Technologist: Over three (3) years’ experience and familiarity with scope of position
- Junior Development Technologist: Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation or Certified Engineering Technician (C.Tech.) in progress
- Junior Development Technologist: Over two (2) years’ experience and familiarity with scope of position
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to provide a driver’s abstract when requested during the recruitment process
- Computer expertise in Microsoft Office and department-specific software
- Awareness of safe work practices and basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Successful applicants must provide a current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check where required, and verification of education
