About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and grow a portfolio of strategic building and construction and industrial customers and prospects across Northern California
- Develop account plans to expand market share, improve customer retention, and deliver profitable, sustainable growth
- Build a qualified pipeline of new opportunities involving extruded aluminum products, fabrication, finishing, and thermal improvement solutions
- Understand customer applications, project cycles, technical requirements, buying processes, competitive alternatives, and growth priorities
- Lead commercial discussions involving quotations, market trends, pricing, contracts, volume commitments, forecasts, and account profitability
- Coordinate with customer service, operations, planning, engineering, quality, credit, and regional leadership for onboarding and reliable execution
- Communicate proactively with customers regarding lead times, outages, service issues, order status, and recovery plans
- Maintain forecasts, budgets, market maps, opportunity records, account activity, and pipeline updates in Salesforce and other systems
- Follow up on quotations, drawing approvals, FAI and PPAP samples, tooling, and purchase-order timing
- Participate in collection efforts, dispute resolution, claims communication, quality validation, and service recovery
- Monitor and report market trends, competitor activity, customer investment plans, and emerging applications
- Represent Hydro at customer meetings, project reviews, industry events, and plant visits while following the Code of Conduct and company policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of progressive sales and marketing experience, including key account management and strategy development
- Direct experience in the building & construction market
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing commercial strategies that increase market share and deliver profitable growth
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Northern California and to Hydro locations as business needs require
- Must speak English
- Marketing or business degree or equivalent in education or experience preferred
- Advanced degree is a plus
- Strong commercial knowledge and skill in pricing, negotiation, contracts, forecasting, and strategic account planning
- Experience in business-to-business sales, key account management, or business development within building and construction, aluminum extrusion, engineered products, or a related manufacturing market
- Experience developing strategic accounts, building qualified new-business pipelines, and converting opportunities into profitable sales
- Ability to understand technical products and translate manufacturing capabilities into customer value
- Knowledge of LME and metals pricing is an asset
- Knowledge of the building and construction value chain and Northern California market
- Experience selling aluminum extrusions, fabricated aluminum components, painted or anodized finishes, thermal solutions, or other value-added manufacturing services preferred
- Some Spanish would be a plus
