About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work from maintenance work orders, schedules, manuals, checklists, prints, sketches and schematics in accordance with national and local codes and standards
Fabricate, repair, install and maintain equipment using hand tools, instruments, machining equipment, cutting and welding equipment, and drilling, boring and grinding tools
Maintain strict quality standards and tolerances using measuring devices and tools
Perform hydraulic, pneumatic, gas plumbing and piping operations
Install and repair hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, fittings, couplings, pumps, motors, valves, regulators, pipes, tubing and hoses
Install, diagnose, maintain and repair gas-fired ovens, burners and related regulation and control devices
Align, level and balance machinery, pumps, motors and associated equipment
Assist control engineers with control-system repairs, diagnosis, teardown, parts replacement and testing
Diagnose equipment issues and perform necessary repairs
Prepare material requisition forms and maintenance paperwork; report spare-parts shortages to the team leader
Participate in meetings and task-force groups to coordinate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals and resolve problems
Perform equipment validations and safety and quality audits
Perform other related duties and respond to emergency conditions
Adhere to company policies and procedures
Maintain a clean and orderly work area according to 5S standards
Perform duties in accordance with HSE, quality and productivity requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Ability to use advanced trade mathematics
Ability to visualize and use complicated tools and equipment
Ability to use precision measuring instruments, such as gauges
Knowledge of mechanical technology equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship of a recognized trade, such as mechanics or millwrights
Manual dexterity with hand and power tools and equipment, including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, welding equipment, drill presses and band saws
Familiarity with health and safety regulations
Strong statistical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Knowledge of process-related standards
Proven ability to develop successful partnerships with internal and external team members
