About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work from schedules, production orders, prints, and specifications
- Verify billet alloy and length and set heater controls to specified settings
- Operate the press using multiple control panels in sequence
- Adjust the press and peripheral equipment, layout guides, tooling, and operating parameters to meet customer specifications
- Perform or assist with departmental operations to maintain workflow or respond to emergencies
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and ensure safe operating conditions
- Assist with process examination and quality documentation
- Determine causes of problems, perform root-cause analysis, recommend solutions, and follow up on product and customer issues
- Assist with press equipment validations and safety and quality audits
- Provide manufacturing production with sufficient extrusion press operation
- Drive a lift truck and operate press peripherals to extrude specified aluminum products
- Troubleshoot press operations and support manufacturing problem resolution and process improvement
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned/open-air shop environment that is hot in summer and cold in winter
- Ability to work in a team environment and change job functions throughout a shift
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends; scheduled day off may fluctuate
- Ability to maintain normal production requirements using proper body mechanics and safe work practices
- Ability to perform all duties within standard methods and procedures while adhering to HSE, quality, and productivity requirements
- Ability to set up, adjust, and operate an aluminum extrusion press
- Ability to operate a quality lab, lift truck, and press peripherals
- Ability to determine appropriate equipment settings and operational sequences
- Ability to troubleshoot press operations for manufacturing problem resolution and process improvement
- Ability to follow company policies and procedures and maintain 5S standards
