About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer and coordinate treatments for respiratory problems across the lifespan
- Chart treatments and maintain complete medical-record documentation
- Provide direct care to complex patients as part of the interdisciplinary team
- Communicate patient-care updates and changes to nurses, physicians, and supervisors
- Respond to emergency and critical-care situations and extend therapy to patients
- Assess patients and determine appropriate courses of action
- Care for neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Attend tier 1 huddles and staff meetings and use Error Prevention Tools and behaviors
- Support and participate in VOICE and unit practice council
- Communicate ventilator changes, patient orders, and critical ABG results
- Verify treatment and ABG orders before treating patients
- Document treatments, medications, ventilator flow sheets, ABG logs, QC, and maintenance records
- Manage critical-care patients and ventilators using patient charts, imaging, laboratory results, and clinical notes
- Assist nurses with duties to provide quality patient care
- Perform floor therapy modalities, new starts, patient education, and follow-up
- Follow oxygen and aerosol protocols and communicate treatment delays
- Organize patient care, set priorities, and perform consultations and assessments at physician or nursing request
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist (Respiratory Care Professional) in the state of Georgia
- Associates Degree
- Respiratory Therapy training through an accredited school
- Successful completion of registry examination
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read, write, reason, talk, and use keyboard
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs frequently
- Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, stand, walk, push, and pull frequently
