About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as a team member in the day-to-day operations of the lab
- Perform 2-D, M-mode, color flow mapping and cardiac Doppler echocardiography for adult and/or pediatric patients
- Maintain procedure charging and PI documentation in cardiac ultrasound
- Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures and related computer/paperwork
- Take call or work after-hours shifts as required for coverage
- Care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
- Perform cardiac ultrasound and echo procedures according to department protocols
- Explain procedures to patients and family members
- Prioritize workload and respond to urgent conditions
- Verify orders, follow protocols and assign the correct reading physician
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Input patient charges and maintain IAC accreditation records
- Orient patients and families and provide appropriate education
- Ensure patient comfort and assist with ambulation and positioning
- Maintain supplies, equipment and clean procedure rooms
- Meet departmental productivity standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certificate in Medical Sonography-Cardiac (RDCS or RCS)
- BLS Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of clinical Echo experience
- Intermediate computer skills
- Knowledge of methods, techniques and operating principles involved in various ultrasound equipment
- Ability to perform designated skills and procedures proficiently
- Broad knowledge of cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs occasionally
