About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Proactively solicit new residential mortgage business through internal and external sources in an assigned geographic area
  • Participate in business development opportunities, professional organizations, and community efforts to promote homeownership
  • Ensure compliance with third-party agencies, vendors, company policies and procedures, and federal/state regulations
  • Provide an exceptional customer service experience throughout the loan origination process
  • Interact professionally with team members and other departments
  • Submit complete credit applications with supporting documentation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external referral sources
  • Prospect new mortgage lending opportunities
  • Facilitate communication with customers and referral sources during loan origination
  • Review applications, credit files, and customer qualifications to determine appropriate loan products and pricing
  • Counsel and coach applicants toward their goals and suitable loan products
  • Request timely loan rate locks for Secondary Marketing
  • Maintain current knowledge of loan products and secondary market rules
  • Achieve production and quality goals
  • Cross-sell other Northwest products and services to loan applicants
  • Work as part of a team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3 - 5 years mortgage origination or sales experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships among team members and participate in solving problems and making decisions
  • Ability to present and express ideas and information clearly and concisely, orally or in writing
  • Ability to actively listen and facilitate the open exchange of ideas and information
  • Ability to establish courses of action, develop tracking systems, monitor work progress, and effectively use time and information
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on perceptive and analytical processes
  • Ability to successfully meet production and quality goals
  • Knowledge of banking industry laws, regulations, and retail origination process
  • Knowledge of conventional and government loan products and guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, USDA-Rural Housing, and VA loans
  • Knowledge of Ellie Mae Encompass Loan Origination software, Freddie Mac Loan Product Advisor, and Optimal Blue pricing engine
  • Knowledge of retail mortgage loan pricing
  • Sales skills with ability to turn prospects into customers
  • Strong networking and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • NMLS Registry; annual renewal required as a condition of employment
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office software, computer applications, and department-specific software
  • Ability to work with on-site equipment
