About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage total operations within the assigned department or team under the direct guidance of the Regional Manager
  • Lead and develop the team, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Work with senior leadership to implement strategies, allocate resources, and drive continuous improvement
  • Serve as a key communication point between the local port office and upper management
  • Manage budgeting, performance reviews, and a positive, productive work environment
  • Maintain profitable operations across assigned offices, targeting a minimum 12% profit margin
  • Process and maintain accurate billing activities
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs related to cost, compliance, revenue, profit and loss, turnover, and other metrics
  • Support operational budgets and oversee P&L responsibilities
  • Monitor safety KPIs and training compliance; lead safety meetings and submit safety reports
  • Implement and enforce the NLI safety program and comply with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, terminations, disciplinary actions, and employee retention
  • Maintain communication with principals, customers, Port Partners, Port Authority, terminals, and government agencies
  • Board vessels for operational training, oversight, and relationship purposes
  • Build local community relationships and participate in maritime organizations and sales activities
  • Identify local opportunities and participate in customer sales calls and events
  • Uphold communication quality and timeliness; report on CRM metrics, user engagement, and system ROI
  • Maintain content calendars and support client-facing teams with communication tools and templates
  • Provide training and guidance to the local port office
  • Abide by company HSEQ policies and procedures; perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Maritime, or related field desirable
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the Maritime Industry required
  • Minimum of three (3) years management experience required
  • Proficient in computer software and applications, with ability to adapt to new technologies and tools
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate across all departmental functions
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally as required
  • Valid driver’s license and accident-free motor vehicle record
  • Must provide and maintain automobile insurance according to state laws
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) within 90 days
  • Reliable and consistent transportation approved by terminals/ports
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds
  • Compliance with U.S. Coast Guard, OSHA, company, and maritime safety regulations
  • Required to wear PPE as mandated by company policy and maritime regulations
