Key responsibilities & impact

Review conflict-of-interest checks for prospective US lateral hires
Resolve identified conflict issues to facilitate lateral hiring
Advise partners, attorneys, and the Global Compliance Team on potential conflicts of interest, legal and ethical considerations, and commercial concerns
Collaborate with analysts to ensure consistent workflow and timely production
Supervise the workflows and work products of at least two Compliance Analysts
Interact with Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP management to resolve conflict-of-interest issues and commercial concerns
Manage a docket of 15 to 30 outstanding conflict matters
Prepare conflict reports for prospective lateral hires, identifying issues with work history and potentially portable work and proposing solutions
Assist with enforcement and issues related to Global Practice Standards, including stock and share dealings, external appointments, bribery, corruption, discrimination, economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, and cyber security
Liaise daily with Compliance Teams in Australia, Canada, the UK, and South Africa
Analyze conflict issues involving directorships and trusteeships and maintain databases
Review client relationship letters for contractual obligations relevant to conflict resolution
Address questions and concerns related to share-dealing policies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Licensed to practice law in one or more states in which Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP has an office, particularly Texas, New York, California, and the District of Columbia
Experience working as an attorney
Thorough acquaintance with and working knowledge of US conflicts rules
Excellent commercial judgment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Experience operating in a multi-cultural environment
Maturity and judgment to work successfully and confidently with all levels, including senior management and partners
Confidence to exercise risk-based judgment calls daily
Familiarity with a lawyer’s duties regarding confidentiality, privilege, and client care
Highly analytical with ability to anticipate potential problems and creatively propose and implement solutions
Ability to effectively supervise the work product and daily workflow of two analysts
Commitment to work outside regular business hours
Availability for a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends and holidays
