About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of 6–12 counselors during morning programming
- Provide daily coaching, facilitate morning huddles, give feedback, and support counselor development
- Serve as the primary family contact at drop-off
- Welcome parents and address concerns
- Communicate weekly about each child's experience
- Oversee morning schedules, materials, facilities, safety protocols, attendance, and incident reporting
- Step in to teach or cover counselor duties as needed
- Lead a morning class when necessary
- Provide written and verbal handover to the afternoon lead at 1:00 PM
- Represent NORY to families
- Shape the summer experience for campers and their families
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience working with children ages 3–12
- Experience in teaching, camp leadership, or similar roles
- Proven team leadership, including managing or mentoring at least four people
- Strong family engagement skills
- Ability to handle routine and challenging parent conversations
- Operational steadiness and organization under pressure
- Growth mindset and receptiveness to feedback
- Willingness to learn new tools
- Teaching license or STEM degree not required
- Resume and brief cover note required
- Availability between June 8 and September 4, 2026 should be provided
