About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build omni-channel relationships with national retail accounts
  • Provide strategic direction and best-in-class execution to achieve sales and profitability goals
  • Communicate with buyers and key account contacts to determine customer needs
  • Align company strategy with retail account direction and goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with retail customers at all levels
  • Manage current product listings, new business opportunities, and product launches
  • Develop strategies for profitable customer and category growth
  • Develop monthly sales and demand forecasts
  • Work cross-functionally within the organization
  • Monitor industry trends, competition, and account changes
  • Understand the unique needs and objectives of each account
  • Meet or exceed sales and revenue goals
  • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms
  • Resolve account issues and conflicts
  • Communicate product/service value propositions
  • Provide regular updates and reports to internal stakeholders and national accounts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Trained in strategic negotiations
  • Experience leveraging data into actionable insights
  • Radical curiosity of retail and the constantly changing marketplace
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to proactively and creatively problem solve
  • Analytical and strategic thinking
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving sales targets
  • Familiarity with industry and market dynamics relevant to the company's products/services
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management
  • At least 3–5 years of current CPG account management experience working with retailers in the food channel
  • Current experience with item-level forecasting
  • Proven experience in sales, account management, or a related field
  • Experience managing national or key accounts is often preferred
