About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and polish core Notion Android experiences, including page reading, writing, editing, navigation, Home, Search, and Inbox
  • Develop on a native Kotlin and Jetpack Compose stack
  • Partner with product managers and designers to turn ideas into shipped features
  • Use feedback and data to iterate on product features
  • Use AI coding tools and agents to build, test, and investigate efficiently
  • Own a core Android product area from idea to launch within the first year
  • Improve startup time, scrolling, typing latency, crash rates, and memory usage
  • Add tests and monitoring to prevent regressions
  • Collaborate with experienced product and mobile AI engineers
  • Explore Android capabilities and contribute to decisions about what ships

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience building and shipping Android apps through work, internships, or personal projects
  • Comfortable with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, and Gradle
  • Care for native UI performance and smooth interactions
  • Product instincts and attention to interaction details and polish
  • Ability to articulate trade-offs in writing and ask for help early
  • Experience using AI tools and agents for engineering workflows
  • Web experience with TypeScript, React, and Node is welcome but not required
  • Must be able to work from a Notion office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Anchor Days)
  • Ability to work in either San Francisco or New York City
