About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead planning, implementation and continuous improvement of work health and safety across Torrens Global Education and related entities
  • Advise staff and business units on safe working practices, WHS obligations, frameworks, tools and legislation
  • Identify and manage physical and psychological risks
  • Manage work-related and non-work-related injuries and workers compensation claims end to end
  • Manage annual renewal of workers compensation premiums and assess cost drivers
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain WHS frameworks, policies, records and information
  • Monitor legislative changes and maintain compliance with WHS requirements, regulatory standards and codes of practice
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and recommend corrective actions
  • Lead WHS projects and support measurable safety improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualifications in work health and safety and/or at least six years’ experience in this specialist area
  • Return to Work Coordinator certificate for South Australia
  • Experience applying WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice in a complex organisation
  • Experience managing work-related injuries, workers compensation claims and end-to-end case management
  • Experience delivering work health and safety initiatives and practical improvements
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with leaders, employees and diverse stakeholders
  • Highly organised and self-directed, with ability to manage competing priorities and day-to-day workflow under broad supervision
