About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interface with relevant departments to understand NOV products and their safe operation, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair, and train customers on NOV products
- Perform field upgrades of Top Drives, Draw Works, Pipe-Cats, Iron Rough Necks, and related hardware
- Train customers on proper system operation
- Communicate field failures and feedback reports to appropriate departments
- Complete and submit field service documentation promptly
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair drilling equipment
- Provide training to other NOV Field Service Technicians
- Provide accurate and timely work-progress and output reports
- Work in the repair shop when needed
- Comply with NOV company and HSE policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Microsoft Office knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and basic electrical drawings
- Minimum 3–5 years mechanical experience
- Working knowledge of rig floor equipment, including Top Drives and Iron Rough Necks, preferred
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Working knowledge of electrical
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
- Valid driver’s license
- Must provide transportation from home to the office; transportation to customer locations will be provided
- Must obtain and maintain an active NOV corporate credit card
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and on-call 24/7
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and basic hand tools
- Ability to interact effectively with customer and contractor personnel
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Willingness to comply with safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to meet or exceed department standards
- Ability to adapt and be cross-trained
- Ability to work in harsh environments, including rain, snow, heat, and heights exceeding 150 feet
