About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform daily operational and database administration activities
Plan, design, implement, and support database structures
Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning
Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation
Perform SQL code reviews
Assist with training and mentoring other technical staff
Perform other database or infrastructure activities as requested
Assist in designing, developing, amending, and optimizing database schemas
Help ensure application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schemas meet department data requirements
Assist in developing an overall data architecture supporting department needs and AST security standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
12 years combined experience in database administration
Experience with DB2 for z/OS
Experience with SQL Server 2008R2 and 2012
Experience with Oracle 10g and above
Ability to develop database and warehousing designs across multiple platforms and computing environments
Ability to work as part of a team to develop an overall data architecture
Ability to meet Department and Agency for State Technology (AST) security standards
Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS application integration, performance management, and database administration
Advanced knowledge of upgrading DB2 for z/OS
Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS catalog maintenance
Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS subsystem point-in-time recovery
Advanced knowledge of JCL
In-depth knowledge of the z/OS integrated platform
In-depth knowledge of CA GEN model management and application object support
In-depth knowledge of ISPF
In-depth knowledge of the ASG Scheduler
In-depth knowledge of COBOL
In-depth knowledge of DB2 for z/OS database monitoring tools
In-depth knowledge of z/OS software monitoring tools
In-depth knowledge of technical infrastructure implementation planning and coordination
Solid working knowledge of z/OS started task creation and management
Solid working knowledge of IBI z/OS service support
Solid working knowledge of AFOPER commands
Solid working knowledge of RACF
Solid working knowledge of CICS
