About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Configure and document firewall infrastructure access rules and work with Palo Alto, Checkpoint, and GlobalProtect VPNs
- Perform firewall deployments, rule migrations, firewall administration, and conversion of rule-based policies to new platforms
- Work with next-generation firewalls, VPNs, log collectors, and monitoring systems
- Configure cloud network firewalls and security policies and monitor network traffic
- Develop and maintain documentation following NIST guidelines
- Develop, implement, and manage enterprise security solutions across network, data, systems, cloud, telecommunications, and web environments
- Design and maintain secure network architectures, segmentation strategies, access controls, firewalls, VPNs, encryption technologies, and other security controls
- Develop and maintain enterprise security policies, standards, procedures, and technical controls
- Perform security risk assessments and prepare status reports, security metrics, and recommendations
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity threats and security events
- Evaluate emerging network and security technologies and lead proof-of-concept and product assessment activities
- Provide advanced technical support and consultation on complex network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity issues
- Provide security expertise throughout the IT project lifecycle
- Design, implement, and support LAN/WAN, routing and switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, segmentation, internet, cloud, and data center infrastructure
- Investigate and resolve complex network and security incidents and coordinate with vendors and technical teams
- Establish network performance and security metrics, dashboards, KPIs, and management reports
- Maintain network and security documentation, configuration standards, diagrams, IP addressing, VLANs, firewall rules, access controls, and disaster recovery requirements
- Collaborate with architecture, cybersecurity, systems, database, application, cloud, telecommunications, and infrastructure teams
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to network and security staff
- Perform project management and data administration duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or another related field, or equivalent work experience
- Typically 5 to 10 years of combined IT and security work experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience with information security tools based on NIST standards
- Knowledge of security issues, techniques, and implications across existing computer platforms
- Experience with NGFW Palo Alto or Checkpoint security products preferred
- Experience using schematic diagramming tools to map infrastructure layouts
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in enterprise networking, cybersecurity, systems, databases, cloud infrastructure, and/or Web operations
- Advanced knowledge of network architecture, routing and switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, network segmentation, wireless infrastructure, cloud networking, identity and access management, security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and enterprise security controls
- Preferred certifications: PCNSE, CISSP, CCNP, CCIE
- Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats
- Ability to work independently or on multiple IT security projects
- Ability to apply problem-solving, decision-making, customer service, leadership, teamwork, and quality-assurance skills
