About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Administer and support SQL Server and cloud databases in the Tolling group
Provide help desk and application support as part of rotation with the Tolling team
Monitor databases to maintain and ensure uptime and availability
Troubleshoot application/database issues involving connectivity, access, security, and related concerns
Tune long-running SQL
Review and refine existing database tasks and processes to align with agency/group priorities
Use O/S scripting utilities for database maintenance, diagnosis, and support
Review database implementation and propose, execute, and/or direct necessary changes
Perform SQL Server installations, including SQL Server 2022 and 2025+ with failover clustering
Administer, support, and tune SQL Server databases
Work with Engineering and Operations professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need

Expertise working as a SQL Server DBA
Expertise working with SQL clustering, mirroring and high availability
Experience working with large SQL databases
Expertise in writing Transact SQL
Experience tuning SQL Server databases
Expertise in installing, upgrading, patching and migrating SQL Server databases
Experience working on a Windows platform
Exposure to SSIS, SSAS, & SSRS
Experience working with Azure Cloud
At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server database
At least 1 year of Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks experience; a certification is acceptable in lieu of experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or other applicable and/or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or work history
Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively using standard requirements and design artifacts
SQL Server 2019+
Knowledge of data modeling principles
Fingerprint-based background check required
Required experience: 2 years SQL Server Tuning
Required experience: 1 year working with SSIS, SSRS & SSAS
Required experience: 1 year coding & debugging Transact SQL
Required experience: 1 year installing, upgrading, patching and migrating SQL Server databases
Required experience: 2 years DB Administration on Azure Cloud, Snowflake, and/or Databricks
