About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate, maintain, administer, and improve selected infrastructure and platform systems
- Evaluate existing virtualization and SAN systems and design proposed systems for lifecycle management and new technologies
- Ensure infrastructure system installation, troubleshooting, qualification, and validation meet local and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate on designing, building, and operating virtualization environments, including data storage and backup
- Train team members to ensure coverage and business continuity
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for IT platforms
- Monitor systems and respond to IT incidents
- Participate in the team on-call rotation and provide after-hours site support for production needs
- Ensure IT systems are available, capable, and accessible for production and business requirements
- Direct internal process changes to maintain secure and available systems
- Manage IT department projects and support other business unit projects
- Serve as subject matter expert during corporate and external agency audits
- Collaborate with Global IT Infrastructure groups
- Support and practice IT security
- Comply with internal and external regulations and procedures
- Follow safety and environmental requirements
- Perform other assigned accountabilities
- Report to the Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Automation, or relevant field from an accredited university required, with minimum of three (3) years of direct related experience
- Alternatively, six (6) years of indirect related experience may substitute for three years of direct experience
- Alternatively, an Associate's Degree in a relevant field with minimum of five (5) years of direct related experience or eight (8) years of indirect experience
- Alternatively, a High School Diploma or equivalent with high-level technical certifications and minimum of seven (7) years of direct related experience or ten (10) years of indirect experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft OS, Linux OS, networking principles, and IT security
- Experience with system monitoring tools, domain services, backup solutions, virtualized server deployment, patch management, and IT security
- Strong technical background in IT infrastructure systems
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, virtualization platforms, backup solutions, disaster recovery, patch deployment technologies, communication flows, and firewalls
- Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, documenting, and resolving infrastructure and business system hardware, software, and networking incidents
- IT governance experience, including system and configuration management, business continuity, and forecasting
- Certification in an IT System Administration/Engineer discipline preferred
- Knowledge of VMware vSphere version 6+ preferred
- EMC VPLEX virtualized storage platform experience preferred
- EMC VNX and UNITY storage array experience preferred
- Fibre Channel network design, implementation, and operations experience with Brocade SAN hardware preferred
- Backup IT utilities experience, including Veritas, preferred
- Automated control systems and Six Sigma methodologies a plus
- GxP pharmaceutical environment experience a plus
- Good written and oral communication skills a plus
- Ability to develop and maintain strong internal relationships preferred
- Knowledge of IT systems analysis and Information System Security principles preferred
- Ability to work in an open office environment with frequent distractions
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
