About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own end-to-end design for cross-surface initiatives including onboarding and account opening, money movement, lending and credit, invoicing, and getting paid
- Turn ambiguous business goals and regulatory constraints into product strategy, information architecture, and interaction models
- Work with product and engineering leads to shape the roadmap
- Define quality standards for interaction, visual, and content design
- Run design critiques
- Ship polished, accessible, WCAG-conformant, production-ready design across web and native mobile
- Lead the evolution of Novo's design system, including tokens, components, patterns, documentation, and growth processes
- Partner with engineering to keep Figma and production aligned and retire inconsistencies
- Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and Legal on disclosures, consent, KYC/KYB, security, fees, terms, and edge cases
- Use AI tools for research synthesis, exploration, prototyping, and documentation
- Contribute design thinking to Novo's AI-powered product experiences
- Mentor senior and mid-level designers
- Write and codify design principles, patterns, and playbooks
- Represent design in cross-functional and leadership conversations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of product design experience, with at least 3 operating at a staff or lead scope as an individual contributor
- Portfolio of shipped, complex products showing research and problem framing, systems thinking, interaction design, visual polish, and business results
- Deep experience building and scaling design systems across web and native mobile (iOS and Android)
- Expert-level Figma
- Strong prototyping skills
- Technical fluency to pair effectively with engineers and understand what is cheap versus expensive to build
- Data fluency, including reading funnels, framing experiments, and using quantitative and qualitative signals
- Experience designing in a regulated environment such as fintech, financial services, healthcare, or similar, including disclosures, consent flows, and identity verification
- Hands-on AI fluency in daily design work
- Exceptional communication and ability to influence without authority
- Comfortable with ambiguity and speed without letting quality slide
- Nice to have: direct experience designing lending, credit, payments, or business onboarding products
- Nice to have: comfort prototyping in code (React, SwiftUI, or similar)
- Nice to have: experience designing agentic or AI-assisted product experiences
- Nice to have: motion and brand sensibility bridging product and marketing design
- Nice to have: experience working with distributed teams across time zones
