About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work across complex services and programs to understand user needs and identify opportunities for improvement
- Design better service experiences using human-centred design throughout the service design lifecycle
- Conduct research and discovery through prototyping, testing and implementation
- Work closely with users, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct stakeholder and user interviews
- Create journey maps and service blueprints
- Synthesise qualitative research
- Facilitate co-design workshops
- Develop prototypes and conduct user testing
- Use virtual innovation and project management platforms to support collaborative workshops, service mapping, research, planning, task management and project delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Practical experience using human-centred design, including user research, prototyping and facilitation
- Strong qualitative research and analysis skills
- Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams
- Ability to contribute to strategic design direction while delivering detailed design work
- Strong facilitation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to balance user needs, business objectives and delivery constraints
- Ability to work with ambiguity, structure complex problems, and translate research and design insights into practical recommendations and outcomes
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG
- Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
- Australian work rights; ongoing roles are open to Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens
- Successful candidates must undertake pre-employment screening, including a National Criminal History Check
