About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer VMware vSphere systems in the corporate data centre and cloud services throughout the IT lifecycle
- Provide technical support and consultation for engineering at-scale fault-tolerant systems
- Use automation in operational and deployment activities to improve infrastructure reliability, performance, consistency and predictability
- Collaborate with vendor representatives and IT teams to test and resolve complex problems
- Analyse data to identify VMware vSphere performance trends and issues
- Coordinate deployment of fixes and changes into the production environment
- Manage cybersecurity risks related to data-centre lockdowns and upgrade schedules
- Draft configurations, roadmaps and technical diagrams according to procedures and operational requirements
- Recommend process improvement initiatives to the manager
- Maintain accurate records in line with departmental regulatory requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated experience in administering large-scale VMware vSphere systems
- Confidence managing stakeholders at all levels
- Strong communication skills and good attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and operating enterprise-scale VMware vSphere virtualisation platforms
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining automated deployment solutions
- Demonstrated experience engineering automated solutions to resolve operational issues
- Openness to change and operating in a matrix-oriented environment
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG
- Industry certification in relevant technologies or equivalent industry experience
- Understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
- Australian work rights: Australian citizenship, permanent residency, New Zealand citizenship, or a valid work visa
- Successful candidates must undertake a National Criminal History Check
- Successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number
