About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Architect and build the systems on which Nubank's design function operates, increasingly including agentic systems
Build NuBrain, a global knowledge system consolidating 30+ local design and research repositories
Design context architecture for retrieval, token consumption, and delivery of content to people and agents
Build a design quality measurement platform that produces a numerical quality index for user experiences
Review approximately 100 locally built AI solutions, standardize appropriate tools, and retire duplicative solutions
Decide whether solutions should be plugins, MCP servers, agents, Claude skills, or full platforms
Work directly with designers and researchers to understand needs and turn them into scoped, buildable systems
Establish or reuse infrastructure, write code, and ship tools to the design function
Instrument systems with metrics and observability
Own and prioritize the Design Center of Excellence tooling roadmap
Serve as the technical voice in the design organization and explain trade-offs to non-engineering stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

Outstanding, deeply experienced engineer
Years of experience building systems other people build on
Track record architecting UX systems, including design systems, component platforms, UI frameworks, or front-end infrastructure used by many teams
Experience using AI to build compelling examples and sophisticated systems
Ideally, experience building agents, tooling, or infrastructure that help designers work more effectively
Ability to navigate stakeholders, lead projects, and drive work independently without relying on a project manager
Evidence of shipped work, such as GitHub repositories, live tools, demos, and systems that can be explained
Engineering is the primary bar; this is not a designer-who-codes role
UX systems experience is core; this is not a generalist backend or infrastructure role
This is not a customer-facing mobile product role, research role, or modeling role
