Key responsibilities & impact

Define and execute the multi-year technical vision for Money Boxes backend architecture
Build an extensible, multi-tenant platform supporting diverse underlying assets across countries
Architect high-throughput, double-entry accounting engines and balance tracking systems
Ensure exact-once delivery, deterministic reconciliation, and real-time accrual and yield calculations
Design resilient deposit, withdrawal, and auto-investment execution flows
Manage real-time settlement with internal brokerages, clearinghouses, and banking rails
Abstract regional regulatory rules, local tax logic, and currency nuances into platform boundaries
Author RFCs and drive architectural consensus across Payments, Core Banking, Investments, and Security leadership
Mentor senior engineers in distributed systems design, resilience patterns, fault tolerance, and domain-driven design
Collaborate across international markets to support Money Boxes product expansion

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven experience as a senior technical leader (Staff/Senior Staff level) designing, operating, and scaling highly available, mission-critical distributed systems
Deep hands-on experience building systems in transactional environments, such as savings platforms, ledger/accounting engines, investment order management, custody, or core banking infrastructure
Exceptional fluency in event-driven architectures, transactional consistency, distributed sagas, domain-driven design (DDD), and high-concurrency microservices
Demonstrated ability to build domain-agnostic, developer-friendly platforms and APIs with explicit contracts, SLAs, and high observability
Proven success driving cross-organizational technical alignment and communicating technical strategy clearly to engineering leaders, Product Managers, and General Managers
Professional fluency in English required
Portuguese or Spanish is a plus
Role open in Brazil under a hybrid model or in key US hubs
Availability to work onsite two to three days per week
Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is located
