About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and evolve Numeral's public API and MCP server
Build integrations with billing platforms and ERPs, including data synchronization and workflow automation
Improve infrastructure supporting reliable APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines
Own projects end to end, including technical design, implementation, rollout, and ongoing operation
Improve observability, performance, and incident response
Automate infrastructure and deployment workflows through infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and container tooling
Partner with product and engineering teams to ship dependable, maintainable capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience building and operating backend software or platform systems in production
Strong backend engineering skills with Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Redis, or comparable technologies
Experience building APIs, integrations, or data pipelines
Practical experience with AWS or another cloud platform
Experience with containerized workloads using ECS, Kubernetes, or similar tools
Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including retries, idempotency, queues, and failure recovery
Experience using logs, metrics, and tracing to debug production issues and improve system reliability
Ability to work through ambiguity and make pragmatic technical decisions
Experience with payments, tax, accounting, or other systems where financial data needs to be accurate and auditable (nice to have)
Experience integrating with billing platforms or ERPs (nice to have)
Experience building public APIs, developer tooling, or MCP servers (nice to have)
Background in infrastructure or platform engineering, including Terraform, CI/CD, or observability tooling (nice to have)
Experience with event-driven systems or evolving a growing application's architecture (nice to have)
