About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain shared developer infrastructure that improves engineer and AI-agent productivity
  • Own roadmap components end to end and observe engineers using the resulting tools
  • Create serialized, gated deployments across services
  • Automate schema migrations with rollback and establish trusted staging-to-production promotion
  • Build reliable local and remote development environments, sandboxes, and preview/review environments
  • Develop agent-first infrastructure including MCP gateways, governance, cost management, and foundation model selection
  • Manage infrastructure-as-code with Spacelift/OpenTofu, remediate drift, consolidate DigitalOcean onto AWS, and establish IaC standards
  • Establish repository standards, ownership manifests, an ownership registry, and an internal developer portal
  • Build observability foundations including tracing, logging, metrics, Datadog cost and hygiene, incident management, and status pages
  • Improve security and access through secrets/configuration management, SSO, IAM scoping, ECR scanning, audit logging, and vulnerability management
  • Host Numeric Labs, enabling employees to ship internal tools without re-solving authentication, hosting, and observability
  • Pair with engineers, observe onboarding, and identify friction in Slack

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time on infrastructure, platform, or developer-productivity work
  • Confidence with AWS, IaC (Terraform/OpenTofu or similar), CI/CD systems, and Linux/container fundamentals
  • Strong general-purpose programming skills, primarily TypeScript and Python where appropriate
  • Technical depth in AWS, containers/ECS, networking, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Product-builder instinct for developer experience
  • Comfortable building in-house when appropriate and evaluating third-party tools
  • Prior experience with Spacelift / Atlantis, Datadog / Firetiger / Chronosphere, or GitHub Actions / Buildkite is nice to have
  • Experience running incident management, defining SLAs, and maintaining sites through enormous traffic is nice to have
  • Experience supporting non-engineer contributors is nice to have
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
