About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Partner with the VP of EPMO to develop standards, processes and tools for project scheduling and quality targets
- Establish data collection and reporting processes for project metrics
- Report on the EPMO project portfolio to leadership and the ELT
- Provide managerial oversight and direct department staff and operations
- Monitor project scope, costs, schedules, staffing, communications, vendors and contractual deliverables
- Lead and manage high-visibility projects and programs with limited day-to-day guidance
- Plan, organize and staff project teams to deliver strategic initiatives on time and within budget
- Select and enforce appropriate project delivery methodologies, including waterfall and agile
- Define scope, plan work, manage risks and mitigations, report status and collaborate with enterprise leaders and subject matter experts
- Guide day-to-day activities of EPMO team members and advocate for the EPMO
- Create project scopes and charters; identify vendor needs and deliverables
- Develop project plans, schedules, milestones, resource plans, budgets and communication/training plans
- Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors
- Facilitate project kickoffs and benefits realization planning
- Delegate tasks and manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines
- Execute projects and coordinate activities across organizational functions
- Manage project teams and vendors; resolve conflicts and escalate issues as appropriate
- Conduct feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposal evaluations
- Track project progress, costs, risks, issues, requirements and scope
- Maintain project documentation and communicate project status regularly
- Hold technical team meetings and ensure project requirements are met
- Deliver assigned strategic initiatives and enterprise projects on time, within budget and at the required quality level
- Oversee project communications, reports, timelines, presentations, minutes and agendas
- Administer human resource policies; recruit, coach, mentor, motivate and manage staff performance
- Set department and employee goals and complete annual performance appraisals
- Conduct lessons learned and project closeout processes
- Measure project performance and improve PMO capabilities through practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships
- Build trusted-adviser relationships with stakeholders and sponsors
- Collaborate with business partners to support member experience and optimize business processes
- Support continuous improvement and represent the Credit Union professionally
- Maintain confidentiality and participate in member community activities and events
- Stay current with financial services, business operations, processes, information technologies and project management best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5-8 years of experience managing complex medium-large scale programs/projects involving multiple cross-functional disciplines and/or geographical regions
- Extensive experience delivering projects through the full project life cycle
- Experience in operational efficiency initiatives
- Experience in integrated business applications solutions development, testing and implementation
- Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting teamwork
- Comprehensive knowledge of resource management planning and execution methodologies
- Knowledge of quality planning, quality control and quality improvement models and techniques
- Knowledge of delivery systems and process interdependencies across Retail channels, Operations, Lending, Accounting/Finance, Marketing and Training
- Understanding of operations, business processes, systems development lifecycle, and project/organizational change management
- Strong project management skills and understanding of project planning techniques and methodologies
- Ability to produce detailed project plans, dependencies, resource plans and cost estimates
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Team building, coaching and mentoring abilities
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to plan, develop and implement problem and change management strategies

- Professional Project Management Certification (PMP or similar designation)
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, technology or related field or equivalent experience
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS-Project or similar enterprise project management solution
- Mortgage, financial services, banking or credit union experience preferred
- Experience with regional models and matrix reporting preferred
- Post graduate degree preferred
