About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain training curriculum and training materials
  • Conduct classroom, remote, scenario-based, simulation, practical, and on-the-job training
  • Train field coaches, evaluators, contractors, and contractor trainers as needed
  • Design training assessments and tools to evaluate employee performance and knowledge
  • Use the Learning Management System and electronic testing to track completion and review results
  • Observe field employees and provide feedback on required job knowledge and skills
  • Conduct training needs assessments and evaluate training effectiveness
  • Perform administrative duties tracking training, attendance, and evaluation results
  • Use technology to enhance training delivery and measure effectiveness
  • Research new tooling, work methods, and technologies and make recommendations
  • Coordinate and maintain operating manuals and issue updates and revisions
  • Develop and conduct natural-gas-related training for fire departments when needed
  • Assist with or lead material defects and failure investigations, analyze data, and prepare compliance reports
  • Work with Engineering and manufacturers/vendors on follow-up defect and failure analysis
  • Perform quality assurance inspections of personnel
  • Support the Operator Qualifications program through evaluations, procedure review/revision, and training
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned company committees
  • Operate vehicles on company business in compliance with laws and policies
  • Coach field employees on proper work practices, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct training for parallel field roles with industry partners
  • Travel within the service territory as needed
  • Support the company’s commitment to safe work practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 3 years current NW Natural field operations experience or equivalent combination of related current and past field operations experience/education for Level 2
  • 5+ years of current NW Natural field operations experience for Level 3
  • Relevant field operations experience in system operations, construction, customer field services, or related fields
  • Advanced knowledge and application of Field Operations Manual
  • Knowledge of International Residential Code and International Mechanical Code, as applicable
  • Knowledge of NWN Standard Practices Manual and Federal Pipeline Safety Rules
  • Knowledge of NWN Emergency Response Procedures
  • Knowledge of Company Safe Work Practices and OSHA Regulations
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, departments, and employee levels
  • Superb writing skills, including technical documentation, record keeping, report writing, and training plan documentation
  • Initiative and results orientation
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
