About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and conduct training programs for Field Operations, including Construction, Customer Field Services, System Operations, and other field operations workgroups
  • Develop and maintain training curricula and materials, including course overviews, outlines, trainer guides, print and electronic materials, props, tools, supplies, and computer-based training
  • Conduct classroom, remote, scenario-based/simulation, practical, and on-the-job training
  • Provide training for field coaches and evaluators, and potentially contractors and contractor trainers
  • Design training assessments and tools to evaluate employee performance and knowledge
  • Use the Learning Management System and electronic testing to track completion and review assessment results
  • Observe and provide feedback to field employees; conduct training needs assessments and evaluate training effectiveness
  • Perform administrative duties to track training, attendance, and evaluation results
  • Use technology to enhance training delivery and measure effectiveness
  • Research and recommend new tooling, work methods, and technologies
  • Coordinate and update operating manuals for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards
  • Develop and conduct natural-gas-related training for fire departments and maintain annual territory contacts
  • Support material defects and failure investigations, analyze data, and prepare compliance reports
  • Work with Engineering and manufacturers/vendors on defect and failure follow-up analysis
  • Perform quality assurance inspections of personnel
  • Support the Operator Qualifications program through evaluations, procedure review/revision, and related training
  • Serve as subject matter expert on assigned company committees
  • Operate vehicles on company business in compliance with laws and policies
  • Coach field employees on proper work practices, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct training for parallel field roles with industry partners
  • Travel throughout the territory as needed
  • Support the company’s culture of safe work practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 3 years current NW Natural field operations experience or equivalent combination of related current and past field operations experience/education for Level 2
  • 5+ years of current NW Natural field operations experience for Level 3
  • Relevant field operations experience in system operations, construction, customer field services, or related fields
  • Advanced knowledge and application of the Field Operations Manual
  • Advanced knowledge and application of the International Residential Code and International Mechanical Code, as applicable
  • Advanced knowledge and application of the NWN Standard Practices Manual and Federal Pipeline Safety Rules
  • Advanced knowledge and application of NWN Emergency Response Procedures
  • Advanced knowledge and application of Company Safe Work Practices and OSHA Regulations
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proven presentation skills for small and large technical groups
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, departments, and employee levels
  • Track record of establishing and maintaining respect and confidence of field employees
