About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive territory growth by prospecting, developing, and converting new business opportunities within targeted markets
- Expand existing customer relationships through increased market share, cross-selling, and strategic account development
- Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue, margin, and growth objectives
- Understand customer business needs and recommend tailored hardwood lumber solutions
- Conduct customer meetings, facility visits, and sales presentations
- Negotiate pricing, product offerings, and commercial agreements
- Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing teams from quote through delivery
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and customer insights
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting through account planning and territory management
- Represent Northwest Hardwoods with professionalism and integrity
- Walk active job sites and meet face-to-face with general contractors and developers
- Identify new market opportunities, capture market share, and secure high-volume, long-term supply contracts
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma
- Valid US Driver’s License
- Travel approximately 30% - 50% within an assigned territory
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field preferred; equivalent
- 4–5 years of successful outside sales experience preferred, preferably within the hardwood lumber, building products, industrial distribution, or related industries
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business, grow existing accounts, and achieve aggressive sales goals
- Proven success building strong customer relationships and influencing purchasing decisions at multiple organizational levels
- Knowledge of hardwood lumber or building products is a strong plus, but not required
- Ability to prospect, develop, and convert new business opportunities
- Ability to develop and execute territory sales plans
- Ability to negotiate pricing, product offerings, and commercial agreements
- Ability to monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and customer insights
- Ability to maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting
- Professionalism, integrity, consultative selling, relationship building, negotiation, presentation, data analysis, and collaboration skills
