About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct insurance fraud investigations in accordance with company, SIU, statutory, regulatory, and legal guidelines
- Identify leads and potential investigations using data, databases, and spreadsheets
- Prepare regular, timely, and accurate written reports for referring parties in accordance with New York State regulations and company policies
- Conduct interviews and take recorded or written statements
- Verify receipts, complete activity checks, and perform other investigative processes using SIU resources
- Maintain chronological case order and accurate factual activity logs
- Report suspected insurance fraud in accordance with regulations
- Testify in court and brief management
- Interface with law enforcement and regulatory agencies
- Liaise between SIU Field Investigators, EFW Examiners, and Claims Examiners
- Maintain technical proficiency with investigative equipment and remain current in investigative techniques through assigned training
- Remain familiar with civil, criminal, and other relevant laws
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field, OR five years of insurance claims investigation experience, OR professional investigation experience with law enforcement agencies, OR seven years of professional investigation experience involving economic or insurance related matters
- Working knowledge of New York State regulations and company policies
- Familiarity with civil and criminal law and other laws impacting investigations
- Technical proficiency with cameras, computers, recorders, and SIU resource materials
- Good computer skills, including electronic email and databases
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Organized, detail-oriented, and investigative thought process
- Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills
- Ability to work independently and take direction
- Ability to analyze data to identify leads and potential investigations
- Ability to work in less-than-ideal situations and locations while performing investigations
