About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer Google Workspace, including provisioning, deprovisioning, permissions and groups
- Manage the technology stack, subscriptions, approvals, renewals and spend visibility
- Manage platform permissions and access rights
- Implement BYOD-appropriate internal device policy
- Support internal security through 2FA enforcement, endpoint protection and data-handling hygiene
- Provide first-line support and second-line troubleshooting for internal technology issues
- Track issues through to completion and escalate deeper platform or infrastructure issues
- Manage IT-related contractors and vendors and source new vendors as required
- Act as operational point of contact for the external development/platform team
- Roll out and troubleshoot classroom technology on site
- Track installations and maintain site logs and documentation
- Coordinate with WCED IT and connectivity/internet vendors on school network issues
- Field-test new deployment approaches and technology
- Own the feedback loop by observing, testing, improving and documenting
- Manage school installation rollouts and additional classroom installs
- Coordinate device setup with internal support and contractors
- Drive classroom readiness ahead of the January program start
- Provide on-site support during the start of the school year
- Upskill field agents on basic troubleshooting
- Potentially work with the IT Strategist to define the ongoing DevSecOps interface and cadence
- Report to the Head of Operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- IT certification or equivalent hands-on experience
- Hands-on experience with hardware or AV installation, including cabling, mounting, device setup and configuration
- Own vehicle
- Valid driver's licence
- Comfortable travelling independently to schools across a range of areas, including townships, as part of regular fieldwork
- Comfortable operating independently without a dedicated IT function
- Proficient at performing classroom tech installations independently rather than learning on the job
- Experience in education or low-bandwidth environments
- Experience working alongside an outsourced development/engineering function
- Interest, aptitude or experience in DevSecOps is a plus
