About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Educate hospitalists, midwives, nurse practitioners, and staff on coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance
  • Coordinate sessions and train new clinicians on capturing charges in the Patient Keeper application
  • Conduct web-based Patient Keeper training for new and existing clinicians
  • Work with the Patient Keeper project to determine coding education needs
  • Review and evaluate onboarding programs for documentation and coding discrepancies
  • Provide constructive feedback to support accurate and complete charge capture
  • Assist in developing and rolling out billing and coding policies and procedures
  • Maintain and update online training materials to reflect system and workflow changes
  • Perform work according to Coding and Compliance Office standards
  • Handle, screen, and respond to telephone calls and inquiries professionally
  • Maintain awareness of compliance office projects
  • Execute advanced coding and billing projects requiring specialized knowledge and independent decision-making
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Travel as needed for clinician education
  • Report to the Greenville, SC office when required by the company

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC
  • Degree or equivalent experience in healthcare management, compliance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of coding experience
  • Teaching or public speaking experience is helpful when educating physicians
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid coding regulations is a plus
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and ancillary tests/procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to compose letters, memos, and other correspondence
  • Effective interpersonal skills in interactions with providers and staff
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with highly confidential materials
  • High ethical standards
  • Experience educating physicians regarding coding, charting, and relevant processes is preferred
  • Must reside in the South Carolina Upstate area within a reasonable commuting distance of the Greenville, SC corporate office
  • Ability to travel 25–50% as needed for clinician education
  • Flexibility to support occasional after-hours or weekend training sessions
