About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of up to 4 Demand Planners
- Set clear objectives and support team members to deliver against them
- Own forecasting, availability, and performance for an assigned category
- Drive continuous improvement in performance metrics
- Build supplier relationships and hold suppliers accountable for in-full, on-time delivery
- Recruit, onboard, and develop new Demand Planners
- Support career progression and conduct development conversations
- Act as category expert for promotional, seasonal, and event forecasting
- Plan for best-in-class availability, stock holding, and waste
- Deputise for the Category Demand Planning Manager in meetings and cross-functional projects
- Build relationships with commercial, analytics, and logistics teams
- Challenge inbound flows, case sizes, and operational factors to improve availability and reduce costs
- Balance hands-on demand planning with people leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Track record of gold-standard forecasting and availability management in a grocery or FMCG category
- Experience managing conflicting metrics such as availability and waste
- Motivated by developing people and skilled at giving performance-raising feedback
- Commercial understanding of how forecasting, availability and stock decisions affect the wider P&L
- Ability to build supplier and buying-team partnerships while maintaining best-in-class standards
- Ability to balance category ownership with team leadership
- Resilience and adaptability in a fast-growing, evolving business
- Analytical mindset and ability to question data and ask effective questions
- Willingness and ability to use new AI tools to find answers and drive efficiencies
- Ability to work 3 days in the Hatfield office
- Full-time availability, 40 hours per week
