About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver efficient and accurate healthcare coding services for member clients
Ensure compliance with payer requirements, organizational policies, and applicable coding guidelines
Extract and interpret diagnoses and procedures from patient medical records and electronic health systems
Review patient encounters and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes
Validate accuracy and completeness of clinical information
Support appropriate reimbursement by recommending accurate code assignments for third-party payer claims
Identify potential high-risk coding trends
Apply best practices to optimize revenue and enhance coding accuracy
Research and obtain additional information from providers or clinical staff via Epic In-Basket messaging
Proactively escalate complex or unique coding issues
Collaborate with supervisors to resolve coding challenges
Apply newly acquired knowledge to future scenarios
Recommend process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
Support member organizations on-site for new software installations as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Certificate of completion from AAPC (CPC Certificate), AHIMA (CCS Certificate), or ADCA (CDC certificate) is required; certification must be in hand at application
Experience working with Epic EHR highly preferred
Experience with FQHCs highly desired; candidates with FQHC experience will be given priority
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis at the time of application
Position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment
High-speed Internet service
Ability to work in a distraction-free workplace
Reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English
Ability to sit for long periods; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms
Must be on camera for all virtual meetings
