About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate patients and provide inpatient occupational therapy treatment programs based on physician orders
- Collaborate and communicate with the healthcare team to facilitate transition to the appropriate post-acute or home care level
- Perform evaluations and provide treatment programs to facilitate patient-specific goals
- Assess patients' responses to treatment and recommend treatment-plan changes to improve outcomes and maintain patient safety
- Maintain patient records according to documentation standards, policies, and procedures
- Ensure treatment protocols contribute to hospital quality and safety targets and patient safety outcomes
- Adapt behavior, explanations, introductions, permissions, and communication style to the specific patient population
- Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
- Report known or suspected unethical conduct and patient, employee safety, privacy, or compliance concerns
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
- Current occupational therapy license in state of practice OR eligibility for licensure by examination OR reciprocity from another state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills and ability to deal with a variety of patients and diagnoses
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities
- Ability to perform very heavy work, exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly
- Ability to work directly with patients and in a patient care area
- Ability to comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and the employer's Compliance & Privacy Program
