About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the project model for each opportunity, including generation, BESS, flexible load, network cost, capex, opex, revenue stack, IRR, and downside cases
- Build project-specific models while developing tools and standard assumptions for the growing pipeline
- Price customer offers based on load profiles and reliability requirements, using tariffs, PPAs, tolling, or availability-based structures
- Model storage and flexible load across wholesale, Balancing Mechanism, ancillary services, and Capacity Market
- Quantify network charges, curtailment, and connection options
- Develop internal and external presentations supporting customer proposals through final investment decisions
- Track live projects against approved cases, including spend, milestones, and connection dates
- Identify and quantify regulatory changes, including connections reform, REMA, and network charging
- Support term sheets and diligence from indicative stage to signing
- Participate directly in final investment decisions for innovative power projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5 years in a numerate commercial role, such as infrastructure or renewables development, project finance, banking, energy trading or origination, strategy, or energy consultancy
- Financial modelling from first principles, including DCF, IRR, scenarios, and sensitivities
- Advanced knowledge of GB/European power markets and network and connection costs
- Advanced Excel and Python
- Ability to turn messy, incomplete problems into clear recommendations
- Quantitative degree in economics, engineering, finance, maths, or physics, or equivalent experience
- Nice to have: datacenter, large industrial load, or behind-the-meter/private wire project experience
- Nice to have: BESS revenue stacking experience
- Nice to have: PPA, tolling, or connection agreement taken to signature
- Nice to have: Aurora, PLEXOS, or equivalent experience
