About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set national patient access and reimbursement strategies
  • Lead large field-based teams and remove access barriers for specialty pharmaceutical products
  • Build capabilities from the ground up and ensure launch-ready infrastructure for the upcoming Retina launch
  • Collaborate across Market Access, Corporate Accounts, Trade & Distribution, Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations / Analytics, Training, Finance, Legal / Compliance, and Human Resources
  • Design and execute long-term provider reimbursement, patient access, adherence, and hub program strategies
  • Assess the Retina landscape and identify opportunities to innovate provider and patient solutions
  • Lead and scale Field Reimbursement Directors and Managers, Patient Services Hub Operations, and case managers
  • Develop go-to-market strategy for the Field Reimbursement Manager team
  • Oversee reimbursement marketing, tools, and support systems
  • Coordinate Corporate Account and Field Reimbursement teams to implement reimbursement solutions and address issues
  • Oversee internal and third-party patient services operations and maximize data analytics and service delivery
  • Monitor federal, state, and commercial payer policies, billing codes, and buy-and-bill dynamics
  • Partner with brand leadership on Field Reimbursement Manager account prioritization
  • Oversee local partnerships with sales, corporate accounts, and medical affairs
  • Establish and monitor KPIs linking team performance to patient outcomes
  • Implement innovative technology solutions, including potential AI opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, industry standards, and company policies
  • Lead budget planning and financial oversight for reimbursement, patient support programs, and vendors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in patient services, market access, reimbursement, or other related pharmaceutical/biotech functions
  • Minimum 10+ years in a management or leadership role of people or function
  • Superb knowledge of government and commercial payers for specialty products across buy & bill and specialty pharmacy pathways, prior authorization and appeal requirements, coding, appropriate claim submission, and integration with patient assistance programs
  • Experienced in building strategic patient access and field reimbursement capabilities
  • Proven track record of scaling capabilities for growth
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership, collaboration and communication skills
  • Self-starter attitude
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time
