About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Leverage consumer insights, market trends and new product development to build curated, customer-driven assortments and service solutions
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand division strategies, financial goals and strategic category plans
  • Deliver competitive and differentiated in-store, catalog and online programs
  • Work with suppliers to set up new items and maintain item integrity, content and web attributes
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve product mix and shopping experience
  • Optimize assortments and catalogs to maximize trade-up, solutions, micro-assortments and upsell/cross-sell opportunities
  • Identify gaps by customer vertical and segment
  • Manage and develop strategy for an assigned sub-category
  • Partner with content, ecommerce, inventory management, private brand, pricing and promotion teams
  • Perform market research on products, vendor capabilities, industry trends and emerging innovation
  • Partner with Private Brand on portfolio optimization, new development and supplier sourcing
  • Optimize product and services portfolio to drive consumer demand, market share, sales and profitability
  • Manage product and service assortments and determine optimal product mix based on category goals, performance and roles
  • Ensure execution of assortment strategies, web and catalog programs
  • Identify and initiate vendor setup and maintenance with Merchandising Operations
  • Oversee item integrity, including new item setup, content and web attributes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A/B.S) in Business, Merchandising, Operations
  • 5-7+ years of experience, including 3+ years of progressive merchandising plus other equivalent related experience
  • Minimum three years of merchandising experience required
  • Finance, marketing, product development, procurement, services and operations background beneficial
  • Strong strategic business management skills
  • Results-oriented and inquisitive
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Versatile communication styles
  • Cross-functional strategic vision
  • Comprehensive understanding of current and future paths to purchase
  • Knowledge of retail store format optimization and brick-and-mortar shopping experience
  • Knowledge of web dynamics, digital marketing impacts and mobile experience
  • Knowledge of contract B2B sales motion, pricing strategies and vertical/customer segmentation
