About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Report directly to an Associate General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel
Support in-house counsel in managing legal issues efficiently and timely
Research and collect information across designated business units for legal analysis and documentation
Communicate with internal business counterparts to provide legal counsel or resolve legal issues and disputes
Investigate factual claims internally
Review, analyze, and create legal documentation, including agreements, correspondence, and reports
Manage legal document management systems, including case or contract management systems
Plan and manage assigned projects
Retain, manage, and coordinate with outside counsel
Perform preliminary legal research
Assist attorneys cross-functionally within the legal team or department
Train new paralegals and associates
Train colleagues on new technologies or processes
Create processes and protocols to improve Legal Department and business-unit efficiency
Meet independently with business owners and escalate material issues to attorneys when appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in a related field
Experience in a relevant area of legal specialty
Florida Bar or ABA-approved paralegal certification preferred
Substantive knowledge in a specialized area of law preferred
Specialized knowledge in litigation, employment law, real estate, or commercial transactions
Ability to work cross-functionally with different attorneys and in different areas of law
Comprehensive computer skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Experience using electronic research tools such as Westlaw
Experience with case management/e-billing software such as Legal Tracker preferred
Experience with legal document management systems
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to advise all levels of personnel on complex issues
High degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Problem-solving skills and solutions-oriented mindset
