About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, coach, and develop people across the intern program, maintenance, Quality Engineering, and Solutions Engineering
Partner with team leads on technical direction
Create goals and development plans, run 1:1s, provide feedback, and support career growth
Own the intern program from recruiting through conversion, including university partnerships, selection, onboarding, mentorship, programming, feedback, and offboarding
Build a repeatable intern experience connected to production engineering work
Lead the operating model for the intern-staffed maintenance team
Prioritize bugs, performance issues, and technical debt while improving cycle time, backlog health, and learning outcomes
Drive Quality Engineering priorities and quarterly initiatives, including k6 performance testing and Grafana-based monitoring
Turn performance, quality, and observability signals into actions and improve release quality
Lead and develop Solutions Engineering while strengthening escalation paths, operating rhythms, and CX/Support trust
Build shared operational metrics across QE, maintenance, SE, and the intern program
Use AI for analysis, planning, documentation, triage, reporting, and repeatable management workflows
Identify opportunities for AI agents and automation
Build team AI fluency and establish responsible-use expectations
Shape quarterly OKRs and represent teams in engineering planning and QBRs
Continuously improve workflows, measure results, and scale effective practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of experience managing engineers or technical teams
Strong software engineering foundation and technical judgment across quality, performance, maintenance, and customer-facing engineering
Experience recruiting, coaching, and developing technical talent, including interns or early-career engineers
Experience running an internship, apprenticeship, or similar early-career program
Working knowledge of performance testing tools such as k6 and observability platforms such as Grafana, or comparable technologies
Experience managing multiple teams, workstreams, or stakeholder groups
Strong cross-functional skills across Engineering, CX/Support, and external partners
Practical AI fluency and experience using AI tools in real workflows
Ability to design AI-assisted workflows involving prompts, structured context, tool use, verification, and human judgment
Strong analytical judgment and ability to turn operational metrics into priorities and actions
Strong written and verbal communication
Experience presenting recommendations and results to engineering leadership
Experience setting quarterly goals or OKRs and creating accountability around measurable outcomes
Leadership style grounded in clarity, trust, coaching, and ownership
